Great Rugby @ Wimbledon: Fun Rugby @ Wimbledon: Safe Rugby @Wimbledon:
Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new season @ Wimbledon Mini’s.
Here are a few reminder to ensure the 2006/2007 season is a happy and successful one.
My name is Marjie Grant and I’m responsible for children’s welfare issues at the club. At Wimbledon we take the happiness of our players seriously, and would ask you to help the managers and coaches maintain the clubs ethos for fun, inclusiveness and fair play by being an active parent supporter. I would encourage all adults to set a good example when spectating, and applauding good play and effort on both sides.
It is important that all our parents and carers take time to read the clubs
Codes of Practice and Safeguarding Policy. All these documents can be
found on this website in the Procedures for the Welfare of Young People in Rugby Union.
You should also be able to see a list of who the volunteers are in the club,
especially take note of the ones for your age group.
How Wimbledon ensures the club is safe.
- Firstly the club has elected me as the Club Welfare Officer. I am a qualified social worker and have a long career in Child-care.
- As the Welfare officer I am a member of the mini’s executive committee and have a duty to ensure all club decisions give due regard to child welfare issues.
- It is my role to ensure that everyone at the club understands and complies with the clubs Safeguarding Policies.
- One of my key roles is to process all volunteers CRB’s in line with both Rfu and Crb policy. V olunteers must have their Rfu Crb before they can begin their role as Manager, Coach or Parent Helper within the club.
- As required I organise child protection training sessions at the club. Everyone is required to attend a briefing session in their first season as a volunteer. Where this has not been possible volunteers should complete one of the R.F.U. training courses.
- All volunteers and parents should be familiar with and must comply with the club’s Codes of Practice. All these documents form part of the clubs Safeguarding Policy. This document is on the mini’s website
This is an important document and I urge all parents to take a closer look.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN
I’ll visit the club one Sunday each month. Dates will be
posted on the website. You’ll either find me roving
between pitches or stationed in the clubhouse. Either
way please do come and say hello, and have a chat. And
remember if you have any child welfare concerns its part
of my role to help resolve them.
My contact details are: e-mail marjon69@sky.com or Tel: 0208395 0383.
Enjoy the rugby, and please do join in all this seasons club activities .
